Proms in the Park: Platinum Jubilee Party in the Park

3 June 2022
From 12.30 to 4.30

Continuing our Proms in the Park Season

Join us on the Great Lawn for a relaxed summer afternoon.

This event is FREE and will take place on the afternoon of Friday 3rd June and will continue our Summer ‘Proms’ Calendar.

We have a fantastic roaming performance of Malice in Wonderland, by the incredible After Dark Theatre, taking place around the lawns, the Italian Lake and the Pigeon Tower from 12.30 onwards.

About the Performance:

We’re all mad here, but one is madder than any other, as Lewis Carroll has been found dead and it seems one of the very characters he brought to life has escaped the pages of Wonderland and taken his! Why? You might ask, well, it seems one of these once imaginary individuals felt that their part was all too small in the well-known stories of Alice’s time in Wonderland. Sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast, so it is certainly no surprise to hear that a character looking for a bigger storyline committed the crime, unfortunately this meant it was the end of the line for Mr Carroll. Don’t be late, you’ve got a very important date with the inhabitants of Wonderland, they’re here to help you figure out who it was…

Get your super sleuth skills at the ready and prepare for a trip down the rabbit-hole, as you play detective in order to solve the mystery and uncover the culprit who committed this confounding crime. Once you embark on your adventure, you’ll get the opportunity to seek out characters to question, uncover clues and unravel riddles to reveal which of the Fairy Tale Villains carried out the dastardly deed. Curiouser and curiouser!

Part Mystery, part Scavenger Hunt and Treasure Trail, this interactive event is fun for all the family. Just make sure you don’t lose your head whilst you seek out the solution and head towards your happily ever after!

We also have:

  • Afternoon Tea on the Lawn, and general teas and coffees provided for us by The Cakery.
  • Fun and Games – Come along and let’s set up a game of rounders, tennis and perhaps some axe-throwing

Gates open at  12.30 and the event will run until 4.30pm.
