About Us Working Together

The Rivington Terraced Gardens conservation and repair project is only made possible, and will only be a success, through the teamwork and support of many organisations, businesses and individuals.

Rivington Heritage Trust

A registered charity, leaseholder of Rivington Terraced Gardens, and the management board of Trustees with overall responsibility of the restoration and maintenance of the Gardens.
The board is made up of United Utilities employees, local councillors, independent Trustees (with expertise in various subjects) and a Friends Group representative.

Groundwork Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside

A registered charity, the organisation that led the Heritage Lottery application and successfully managed its delivery on behalf of the Rivington Heritage Trust.  Post Lottery, they are the service partner who deliver the ongoing restoration and maintenance of the gardens.
Groundwork also manages and coordinates the conservation volunteer activity, the delivery of events and products, and the Visitor Centre.

United Utilities – The Landowner and project partner

The Friends of Rivington Terraced Gardens

The Committee – A group of volunteers working to engage the community and keep them up to date with the garden restoration, to act as the community spokesperson to the RHT, and to help fundraise for the garden restoration and maintenance project.
The Friends – The members and supporters who donate £10 to help fund the restoration project. They get to vote at the AGM and have a say in the future of the gardens.

The Volunteers

A merry band of path-clearers, toilers, gardeners, researchers, tour-leaders and crafters. A wide group of amazing volunteers who perform invaluable assistance with garden restoration, maintenance activities and event delivery. Conservation volunteer days take place once a week (midweek – days differ), and the first Saturday of every month.
